Internet and online streaming
There is no questions that TV over IP is the way to go in the future. Why? Because of unlimited communitation options between a client and TV station. For example, client could organise his screen any way he wants it, with multiple streams running a the same time, RSS news, station timetables and so on. Also, recording and replaying shows using a computes is super easy, with no extra hardware needed.
But what is the problem? Today’s internet infrastructure would not allow anyone to watch TV over internet at the same time. The capacity is simply not enough. This is clearly shown in mobile internet operators limiting downloads per month as user base grows. Something similar might happen to regular internet service providers, as the traditional lines are not capable of transferring such a large amount of data that is needed to get IPTV in every home. Also, when many people connect, connection speed might go below the one needed ot enjoy IPTV like you can your cable subscription now. Just try watching TV on your mobile on a busy day in a big city and you will see the problem. Constant buffering when watching live TV, even in low resolution, is not a pleasant experience.
